How Beef Tallow Transformed My Skin and Led to a New Venture

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that most of my work revolves around furniture flipping, home design, and creativity, but today I’m sharing something a little different. This is a story about how a moment of curiosity and a friend’s advice led me down an unexpected path, one that’s now turned into something truly beautiful: my own handmade beef tallow balm.

It all started around 2021 during lockdown. I was spending a lot of time online, following various holistic pages, and that’s when I first came across beef tallow. Very few people were talking about it then, but it intrigued me. I didn’t know much, so I didn’t dive into it at the time, but it definitely stuck with me.

Fast forward to last year, and my skin was going through a serious rough patch. I had texture all over, it felt irritated, and honestly, I just didn’t feel comfortable in my own skin. For someone whose skin is usually quite clear, it really got me down.

One day, my beautiful friend Stevie came by to my house, and I mentioned how frustrated I was with my skin. She looked at me and said, “You need to try beef tallow.” I remember thinking, Really? I’ve heard of it… but wouldn’t that make things worse? Like many people, I assumed using animal fat on your face would clog pores or cause breakouts.

But Stevie planted a seed that day. And that night, I started researching. Down the beef tallow rabbit hole I went, and what I found shocked me. Yes, there were some critics (there always are when it comes to natural remedies), but I decided to tune out the noise and give it a proper shot. The only thing stopping me? The prices online were outrageous.

If you know me, you’ll know I love making my own remedies with clean, natural ingredients I trust. So I watched countless YouTube videos, learned about what oils pair well with different skin types, and created my very first batch in October 2024.

I didn’t say anything at first, I wanted to try it out properly before sharing anything. I used it for a solid three months, and honestly? The results blew me away. My skin was glowing, smooth, and healthy again. No reactions. No breakouts. Just pure, nourishing goodness.

By February 2025, I had run out of my original batch (my husband loved it too), and I had promised a few of my cousins I’d make more. So I made a bigger batch and casually mentioned it on my stories.

I honestly didn’t expect the response I got. Those 10 extra jars turned into hundreds of messages, and just like that, my little side project became something so much bigger. The response was overwhelming, in the best way.

From there, I fine-tuned the formula, made it even better, and started offering it at an affordable price, because I genuinely want people to have access to clean, effective skincare without the ridiculous price tags.

Now it’s officially on my website. I receive such heartwarming feedback every day, and I couldn’t be more grateful. What started with one conversation and a bit of curiosity turned into a new passion and a beautiful little venture.

What makes it even more special is knowing how much it means to my community. It’s halal, made with grass-fed suet, free from nasties, and loved by so many across Australia.
